Connecting a domain I just created

    I just created a domain with GoDaddy. When trying to set that domain up with WordPress, it says I cannot transfer the domain because it was created less than 60 days ago, therefore I can only connect it.
    When I went to purchase the monthly personal plan, it says my domain will be ‘aaaaaa.wordpress.com’, but if i were to purchase the yearly personal plan, my domain would be ‘aaaaaa.com’.
    Why is that? Is is simply because I’m paying more money though it is the same plan?

    If you had purchased an annual Personal plan here first you could have registered your custom domain address here too for free for the first year. As it is you should still be able to create a site here with a paid plan and connect your GoDaddy domain to it.

    A monthly plan is an expensive way of doing things. Months come round very quickly. I’d advise getting an annual plan. If you have gone to the trouble of buying a domain surely you aren’t intending of letting it go within a year?

    Hey there!

    Just to add some more info, newly registered domains can’t be transferred during the first 60 days. That’s an ICANN requirement that all registrars need to comply with. You can connect the domain to a site with a paid plan with no additional charges:

    If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com.     Since you’ve already registered the domain, it’s best to do that and then transfer after the 60 days have passed. Do not cancel the domain to register it again elsewhere, as that’s an easy way to lose it.

    Annual paid plans come with a free domain credit for the first year – you can use it to transfer or register a new domain. That said, when your domain will be available for transfer, with any annual plan you could move it here without additional charges.
