  Hi there, do I NEED a WordPress (paid) account to connect a domain I already own, to my WordPress account/site?

  WP.com: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Yes you need a paid plan to correctly connect a custom domain address that resides elsewhere to your site here.

  Hi @spencermeisner,

  To add to what @themagicrobot noted, here’s how you can connect your domain: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  You’ll need a Personal plan or higher, and you can upgrade by going to Upgrades → Plans. It’s worth noting that a one-year free domain registration is included in the upgrade, so were you to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, it would extend it for another year.
