  In order to connect a domain, the domain’s name servers would need to be changed to:

  ns1.wordpress.com
  ns2.wordpress.com
  ns3.wordpress.com

  This would be done at the domain registrar. What is the domain you’re looking to connect? The full process can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  Additionally, the site here at WordPress.com would need to be on a paid plan, at at a minimum the personal plan:
