Connecting Domains from a separate Host

  • Unknown's avatar

I purchased and registered my domain through IONOS and I just connected it to WordPress.
When I go to WordPress to change the site name to my current domain, I select the ‘use a domain I own’ and then I tried selecting the ‘connect domain’ as opposed to transferring the domain, however it will only allow me to connect the domain if I purchase the WordPress Pro Plan. I do not need the pro plan, nor can I afford it. Is there any way I can continue with the connection of my domain and not be required to purchase a plan?

    Hi there,

I’m afraid this activity will require a WordPress paid plan.

Domain connection is also possible to do the WordPress.com starter plan.

    Hope this helps! :)

  • Hi there,

I see that you’ve initiated a domain transfer instead of just connecting the domain. Is that what you’re planning to do with the domain?

Also, if you want to set that domain as primary, you don’t have to upgrade to the Pro plan. The Starter plan allows you to do that as well.

If you have any other questions, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to help.
