    hi,

Your website is not hosted on WordPress.com.
If you are unsure who your hosting company is, you can check your site at https://www.whoishostingthis.com.

We’re able to help only with websites hosted on WordPress.com.

To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You could look in this forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:
    https://wordpress.org/support/

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/register.php

Your hosting provider customer support may also be able to help you.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi there,

For a custom domain the easiest way to do this is by adding a TXT record that you generate from Google Search Console, though the Jetpack plugin on your site also makes it easy to do by adding the meta tag from Search Console at My Site ->Settings ->Traffic.

For the meta tag option you can use the same instructions as for WordPress.com sites, here:

Just because someone’s site is self-hosted it does not mean the WordPress.org forums are automatically the best place for them to get help, and especially not when it pertains to Jetpack features. Please take some time to at least try and understand the question before sending someone away when we’re perfectly able to help them here.
