Connecting my app with my website
-
My client wants a website to market his application(not build yet) , he wants the functionality on the website where users can login and buy tokens to later use on the application.
How can I link a database to both the website and the application? The only functionality that the website must have is that users can sign up and buy tokens to later use on the app.
So I have 2 questions, how do I share a database between the website and application? Is there a plugin/theme that would work for the tokens? The idea is that users can buy the tokens on the website and then log into the application to use their tokens there for investments. -
Hi @zannw,
As long as we are on WordPress.com forum that deal mainly with WordPress.com issues, let me ask you first: do you plan to host a website on WordPress.com or on some other hosting provider?
If positive, then we can ask experienced staff for help.
Looking forward to hear from you soon.P.S. In case necessary here you can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi again,
Could you reconfirm that you are going to host a website on WordPress.com?
If yes, then I think the only way to sell a tokens or any other goods is via WooCommerce plugin, which is available and included on Business or eCommerce plans.
If you are going to host a website on some other hosting provider of your preference and use open source WordPress.com software- I believe WordPress.org community is the best place looking for advice:

I will leave this to WordPress.com staff attention, hope they can offer a solution.

Hi there!
how do I share a database between the website and application?
This is not something you could do with the inbuilt tools on WordPress.com.
I’d suggest searching for a plugin – https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ can be helpful with that. If there aren’t any that would allow you to do what you’re looking for, you’d probably want to use a custom one.
This is outside of our scope of support, I’m afraid.
