Connecting my domain to my wordpress account
-
Hello, want to ask for your help please. I have my own domain taisajahsurya.com. Now I want to connect it to my wordpress account taisajahsurya.wordpress.com.
Questions:
1.Do I get it right that for this I need to buy one of the advanced plans for my account?
2.Can it be the cheapest Personal plan (if no, which plan would be appropriate for that).
ThanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @taisajahsurya,
You can connect your domain “taisajahsurya.com” to your WordPress site “taisajahsurya.wordpress.com” using Domain Mapping.Read More about Domain Mapping here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Every WordPress.COM paid plan comes with a free domain credit which you can use to register a new domain or map your existing domain to your current WordPress site. So yes, you can connect your domain by upgrading to the Personal Plan too.
Hope this helps :)

Thank you for the rapid answer! Do I get it right that to map my domain i need to buy at least Personal plan? Or can i connect my domain totally for free?
thanks ) -
You need to upgrade to a paid plan(at least a Personal Plan) to map your existing domain. It’s not free.
Let me know if you need more assistance with something :)

One more question, please
if i buy for instance Private plan to connect my domain can i use template theme from other resources like themeforest for instance or only wordpress themes are available for me?
Thanks -
Hi again,
No you can’t use templates/themes from resources outside WordPress.COM because it does not allow users to upload themes (even if you have upgraded to a paid plan). The goal of WordPress.COM is to keep things simple so that you can focus on creating quality content. That being said, you can always browse the WordPress.COM themes gallery and select a theme according to your liking and needs.
You can read more about themes here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/ -
If you want to to use themes from third party resources like themeforest you might wanna consider using WordPress.ORG, which is a self-hosted blogging software/platform with much more freedom of customization.

thank you!
now i douobt if to buy Private or Pemium and the main point is the bigger choice of themes in Premium plan. If i buy Pivate and don’t find a theme I like how i can upgrade to Premiun then? Will i have to pay the full price of Premium pack despite of the price Private pack i would pay before or the price of Privat pack will be deducted from the Premium pack price?
Anyway now i got stuck about choice of themes. what would you advice me to do?
thanks
-
If your main priority is to get a custom theme and to be able to customize it however you want, then you should go for WordPress.ORG.
If not, then i would recommend you to go with the Premium plan as has the some features from both – the Business as well as the Personal plans.
Still think carefully about what you actually want from your site before upgrading.
About the payment after you have already bought a plan, i suppose you have to cancel you current plan before 30 days if you wish to upgrade even further. WordPress has a 30 day refund policy on all of their plans except for Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
You can read more about it here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/

Thanks )
if there is a possibility to look through these Unlimited Premium Themes before taking decision on buying premium plan? -
I guess not. That’s why wordpress is giving you a 30 day period to try the plans. If you dont like it you can always cancel your purchase and get a refund within the 30 days period.

So themes i can see here is not the full list for the themes i can choose from if i buy Premium account?
https://theme.wordpress.com/ -
You can see premium themes there with their live demo, but you cant try them before buying.
Premium themes are bundled inside the Premium and Business WordPress plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
So you can get full access to these premium themes if you buy a Premium or Business plan.
