    No its not .org.

The domain I purchased is greekimportexport.com and I want to this domain to be mine greekimportsexports.com blog or thsi blog to become my website.

I do not have another blog, I do not have a previous website and I do not have a content on my domain. What I am trying to do is make this blog my website.

Okay then, you do not need Godaddy hosting, if what you are asking is: How do I set up domain mapping from http://greekimportsexports.wordpress.com/ to an domain name I already own?

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I already purchased with my domain name and a hosting from godaddy ( I wasn’t aware of this) and what I am doing now? I paid for the domain, paid for hosting but I don’t know how to explain better.

My registered (for free ) blog is : http://www.greekimportsexports.wordpress.com

Than I wanted this blog to be my website so I purchased the domain and the hosting from godaddy. My domain is : greekimportexport.com.

I just want my blog to have the name greekimportexport.com and all the content from my blog to be in my website.

I just want to connect them, i do not know how to explain.

    Thank you for responding me

I find this link that you sent to me but when I go there it is asking me to purchase and paid again although I am selecting ” I already own this domain option”

  • Unknown's avatar

I explained above how to map to the domain name your purchased.

The only issue is that you paid for Godaddy for hosting but you do not need it because the blog is free hosted here. You need to contact Godaddy and explain you only wanted to purchase the domain name and not hosting, and get a refund for the hosting part.

Domain mapping is not done free of charge. It costs $13. per year. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hello there! As timethief said, since you have purchased your domain with GoDaddy, you now need to “point” it to your WordPress.com site. In order to do this, you need domain mapping.

You can add this service to your WordPress.com account by logging into your site’s Dashboard and clicking Store → Add Domain.

    Click Buy Now.

Then, you will click to Map a Domain Name You Already Own.

You will see a warning, “greekimportexport.com is already taken. Do you already own this domain name?” You will click yes, since you already own the domain name.

Then, you will finish the mapping process. This feature will cost $13.

Once you’re done, you will need to adjust your name servers with GoDaddy so they point to WordPress.com. You can do this by following these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

Please let me know if you get stuck during any of these steps, and I can help further. Thanks much.

Thank you both for your response , I really appreciate. That I was asking and that why I was so confused. If I was aware of this I was not going to buy the hosting only the domain from godaddy.
I just wanted to know what to do. I will follow the steps and if any issue I ll ask again. Thanks a lot !

Fabulous! Let us know if you need help with anything :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes I have straight away :) Now I am getting this message after paying. I do not have an e-mail and I would like to have an e-mail called: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

What I should do now? I do not have an e-mail so ….?

It looks like you’re getting email at greekimportexport.com.

MX records let you to receive email at email addresses like “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”. It looks you currently have the following MX records set:

    10 mailstore1.secureserver.net
    0 smtp.secureserver.net
Would you like to transfer these MX records for greekimportexport.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

Can you please answer me as I do not now how to proceed now

  • Unknown's avatar

Getting a custom email is a different process. A search of the Support documents indicates you need to do this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

If you already have a GoDaddy email account, and you plan to keep that GoDaddy account, you can transfer those MX records to WordPress.com. That will keep your GoDaddy email account working. We have more details about using GoDaddy email with your WordPress.com site here: Add Email through GoDaddy email hosting

If you’d prefer, though, you can just use the email forwarding feature raincoaster mentioned instead: Email Forwarding

Please let us know if you have any questions about that.

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to do the e-mail forwarding but it’s allowing me to do so.

I also tried to follow the other steps to : Add e-mail thorugh godaddy email hosting but again its not working.
    CNAME email email.secureserver.net
    CNAME mail pop.secureserver.net

These two I can not edit them

    The last two

    MX mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net 10
    MX smtp.europe.secureserver.net 0

I added but its not working again. Any idea what to next??
    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

mail handled by mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net 10. with priority 10

mail handled by smtp.europe.secureserver.net 0. with priority 0

Is this what I put ok? I am not sure for the priority. I am Europe based.

The CNAME I can not edit. CNAME it says that is is handled by WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

For the two CNAME records, you’ll need to add new CNAME records (instead of editing the one CNAME record that’s already there). You can do that on the Edit DNS page by adding new records under “Add New DNS Record” with these steps:

    1. In the drop-down box, select CNAME.
    2. In the box next to it, enter the first word in the record (email or mail).
    3. In the second box, to the right of “alias of,” enter the last part of the record (email.secureserver.net or pop.secureserver.net).

You can also see what that looks like in the screenshots on this support page: Add Email through GoDaddy email hosting

For the two MX records, you’ll just need a small adjustment to make them work. Right now, this is what they say:

mail handled by mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net 10. with priority 10

mail handled by smtp.europe.secureserver.net 0. with priority 0

You’ll need to delete the number in the box after “handled by” so it only has the server name, like this:

mail handled by mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net with priority 10

mail handled by smtp.europe.secureserver.net with priority 0

If you have any trouble with those CNAME and MX records, please let me know and I can take another look for you.

    Hello

I did exactly how you said but I still can not login to my e-mail. Everything is already set as you said.
Now when I was login in my e-mail I was using godaddy webmail login page. Where else I can try to login now?
Thank you for answering I just want my e-mail to start working and I am finished.
