Connecting NameSilo domain without buying WordPress plan
-
I am having difficulty connecting a domain that I bought and hosted on NameSilo with a website I designed on WordPress.com. When I look at options for transferring or connecting my domain on WordPress, I’m prompted to choose a Premium plan. I do not want to do this, as I bought and hosted my domain on NameSilo.
My website is currently [mydomain].wordpress.com, and I want it to be [mydomain].com. How do I do this without buying a WordPress plan?
Things I’ve tried:
– When I asked NameSilo support what to do, they said to ask WordPress what DNS records to set. And when I try transferring [mydomain].com,
– I get the error message ‘Authorization failed’ when I enter the EPP code from NameSilo.
– I’m unable to see the option to connect my domain using DNS records on WordPress in the Domains menu.
– When I try using the guide for connecting a domain with an alternative method (for DNS records), I still am prompted to purchase a plan. I do not see an option to connect with DNS records.
– I don’t see an option to map my domain in WordPress.I’m not sure what else to do.

Hello there!
If you have a domain that you purchased from another provider and would like to use it here at WordPress.com, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our paid plans. The good news is that once you upgrade, you’ll be able to connect and use your domain for free using our domain connection option.
Now, each of our paid plans comes with its own set of benefits. For example, all plan levels include priority email support, while Premium and above offer advanced customization options and even live chat support. Take a look at the features of each plan and choose the one that best meets your specific needs.
We’re here to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions!
