Connecting to my DreamHost, plug-ins, etc.

I signed up for Premium WordPress, selected my personzlied .com site name and started building a site in WordPress. I realized that I wanted to install a plug-in and that my version of WordPress didn’t support that, so I read through the forums and understood the solution to be that I need to work with a web host. I signed up for a DreamHost trial, successfully completed that set-up and when I went through the “One-Click Install” steps to connect DreamHost and WordPress, it said it was already installed. But there’s nothing on the WordPress interface that now shows that I can do anything with plug-ins. Is there a WordPress step that I’m missing, or is my question really with DreamHost?

First, in your dashboard here at WordPress.com, go to Store > Domains and set the primary back to ristianapena.wordpress.com and then click “Update Primary Domain.”

To log into your new site, you will be using a different URL and login than here at WordPress.com. You will be logging in at http://cristianapena.com/wp-login.php and your dashboard will be at http://cristianapena.com/wp-admin. You will not be logging into the new site from WordPress.com.

There does however appear to be a problem at your new installation. When I go to it, I get “Error establishing a database connection”. I would suggest talking with your web host about that error.

    I hope that helps.
