Connecting wordpress to wix

Hi! Okay, so, I’m trying to link my wordpress blog to my wix blog. Your article didn’t really help me as to HOW to do it as it seems to be written in another language (not literally). I go to the wix support, and it says to ask YOU guys, for DNS record.

I’m so confused. My domain for wix is http://www.angieanomalous.com and I’m just sitting here scratching my head, wondering what to do next and everything seems to confuse me even more.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Looks like you wish to map your domain angieanomalous.com to your angieanomalousauthor.wordpress.com blog.

If so, you can map domain using the instructions in this support document: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

The DNS ( Domain Name Servers) for WordPress.com are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

which you can pass it to wix.com so they can update them for you.

There is also an email template under Contacting your domain provider section at the end of the above support document. You can send that email to wix guys so they will be able to change your domain’s DNS to point to WordPress.com

That’s not what I’m looking for. I’m looking to link my blog onto my wix site so that it shows up there in the designated blog section.

    Wix Support: https://www.wix.com/support/html5/wix-blog/getting-started-with-wix-blog/kb/can-i-use-wordpress-with-wix-2

Where that leads to for the WP support, I understand none of it. I want to keep my domain and everything on Wix. I just want my blog to show up in the blog section of the wix site: http://www.angieanomalous.com/#!blog/ck5h

  • Ah, I get it now.

You want a sub-domain like blog.angieanomalous.com point to your WordPress.com blog. i.e. Your visitors will type blog.angieanomalous.com and see the content of angieanomalousauthor.wordpress.com.

Here are the exact instructions you need to follow: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/#instructions-for-mapping-subdomains

As explained in this support document, this is a three step process.

    1. Ask Wix guys to create a CNAME record for your sub-domain. You can change blog in the following CNAME record to whatever name you wish.

    blog.angieanomalous.com. IN CNAME angieanomalousauthor.wordpress.com.

    2. On WordPress.com, buy Domain Mapping upgrade.

    3. Make you sub-domain primary domain.

Let me know if something is still not clear.

  • Once you create sub-domain, you can change the link behind Blog on your Wix site to blog.angieanomalous.com.
So when your visitors click on Blog, they will be taken to your WordPress.com blog.

Note that clicking on Blog link will take your visitors away from Wix site, to WordPress.com blog.
