Connecting WP accounts

  I am admin on digitalsme.eu with the username MZimmermann and the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) and I want to connect that account with this WP account.

  Thanks for writing to us. I am not quite sure that I understand how you want to connect digitalsme.eu.

  Right now, that site does not use WordPress.com. You would need to connect it through domain mapping or a transfer. To do that, one of our plans is required. Details at https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If the site is running WordPress then it would be the other version. That’s the open source WordPress.org software – that’s not the same as our managed hosting environment that we offer here at WordPress.com.

  These are the options for using that domain on WordPress.com.

  1. mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain
  2. transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer

  I am not sure that’s what you are looking to achieve though. Please write back with more questions so we can get things straightened around.

  Thank you for your swift reply!

  Ok so you are absolutely right, our site runs WP but is hosted privately. In reality, all I want is to include a profile picture on my user account on that site. The only way to do that seems to be through Gravatar, which only influences my WP.com profile. That profile is not synced with my user account on digitalsme.eu

  Do you understand the problem a bit better now?

  So it sounds like you want to connect your self-hosted site with your WordPress.com account, is that right? You can do that by installing Jetpack. Have a look here for more information:

  That did help, thank you very much—at least for the one functionality I was looking for, to connect my profile picture to my posts. But for that, I don’t actually need Jetpack since there is the simple “User Profile Pics” which does exactly what I need without any additional weight!
