connectivity?
-
Trying to upload a pic to the gallery – 3, 4, 5 times I get some “HTTP error” message – at the 6th time it works fine then finally! Then inserting pic into post – also, 3, 4, attempts necessary. Preview – at first attempt opens only empty tab. Then – it opens.
And so many other like this – need to click everything 2,3 times! And no, it’s not the internet connection. That one’s not superb but good enough – videos work alright, and sure, sometimes due to heavy traffic etc etc – but this WP issue is ALL the time.

Hi there,
Please see what Staff said here in a similar thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/uploading-media-http-error?replies=12#post-2200489Exactly what kind of device are you using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com?
Exactly which browser (and version of it) are you using? Check here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
Exactly what kind of a file are you trying to upload?
It is an accepted file type?
See the accepted file types here please:

For uploading images posts and pages see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/Here are more details about the options for uploading images http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/04/26/images-the-three-link-options/

Well – I guess I should have added that this issue is only recently. Before it used to work fine. It has nothing to do with file type etc bla bla.
It’s been like this only recently.
And I HAVE read through these things, otherwise I wouldn’t be posting this question here.
Sorry but not helpful.
And as fancy as it is – WP has always been somewhat of not very user-friendly, and I’ve been using it for years now…
So thanks a lot for the time you took for your kind answer – and also for fogiving me my slightly frustrated mood…

I believe that the issue is a connectivity issue and that points to your ISP ie. to a come and go internet connection and not to WordPress.COM. Have you considered contacting your ISP?
Would you be willing to do some advanced troubleshooting?

Hi,
thanks for your patience! :)
I’m using Firefox (latest updates) on an old laptop.
Yes, it must be some issue with the connection; WP usually doesn’t even load when the connection is too slow. The ISP provides a 3G speed via USB stick, and of course sometimes the rates drop – I notice that when all other websites also slow down.
Yet, even if all other sites work acceptably to nice to very fine, even then this WP issue continues.
Thanks again for your kind answer, I am already subscribed to this thread and am looking forward to hear what Staff may have to say.

Thanks for providing more details for Staff to work with when they work their way forward to this thread.

Unfortunately, this does sound like a connection issue. Image files are much larger than the files that are downloaded to your computer when you view a website. Since you’re trying to transfer all of that data over the network, it could get bogged down if you’re doing anything else with the internet, like syncing Dropbox or opening/viewing other webpages.
Can you try running a speedtest here:
Let me know what the numbers under “Download” and “Upload” say.
