Consequences of Being Marked Mature
-
heyas;
i understand about mature content and how to mark your blog as mature, etc. but i don’t recall seeing anywhere (nor could i find help or forum posts about it) the exact consequences of a blog being marked mature.
will it affect people who are not wordpress.com members who come to my blog? will it affect my subscribers? how so? i see ‘rumors’ in the forums about not being shown on tag lists and not being able to link to your blog.
it doesnt LOOK any different to me, but i own it.
thanks!
oh, i DID find some info on it here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
“They are flagged as Mature so that they become less visible to general audiences throughout WordPress.com by being excluded from Top Blogs, Recent Posts and Global Tag Listings.”…is that it?
ps: this is a general question that applies to any/all blogs on wordpress.com

I think that is about it – anyone can still visit your blog – WordPress.COM does want to be family friendly so not having a child surf into your blog from a cartoon site tag seems to be about it –
Others have much more experience than I but the above is all I can remember seeing – so relax – Google and such will still index your site (as long as you set your privacy settings to allow it)

Hi There!
When a blog is marked “Mature” the user name linked here in the WP.com forums is no longer linked to the “Mature” blog also the blog is block from the Global Tags Pages as well that’s about all that happens to the blog the blog is still accessible if someone knows the blogs direct link or by searching for blog posts of a “Mature” blog via the search engines and other sites linked back to “Mature” blog…
Subscribers of a “Mature” blog should also be unaffected…

Edit: Echo Post I should refresh more often…

okay, that’s cool.
now when you say my name here on the forum no longer links to my mature blog (i see that over there)… i have another blog that is not mature. how does that get associated with my name? does it depend on the ‘main’ blog defined in the control panel or something?
not that it’s real important, but people keep asking me which blog i’m asking about, and i keep thinking there’s a link to the blog on my posts/name somewhere.

Try
Dashboard >> Users >> Personal Settings – – down at the bottom is a place to put in a blog URL to associate with your name – remember to save changes –
