    Hi
Just checking that this facility /widget is only available on premium/business, ie. paid websites?
Is that what’s termed a ‘plug in’? Can you add custom html? Please advise
Thanks for the great service, WordPress team

  • Hi there,

You can add a basic PayPal donation button on a free site:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

Or on the Premium Plan you can add the Simple Payments button, that also works through PayPal:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/

A plugin is an add-on you can install on a WordPress site to add functionality that is not included by default. If you wanted to embed a payment button for a service other than PayPal, for example, that would require a plugin (though nothing stops you from making a button on your site and simply linking it to a donation page on a site like Patreon or similar – you can do this on a free site). Using plugins on WordPress.com is only possible on our Business Plan.
