Considering moving from Joomla
-
Hi,
I run a community website that is Joomla based. The site already has its own domain name. I am considering a move to wordpress but am a little confused. Is there a version or package that I can use that gives me the following
– multi user access with different rights
– retain existing Domain name
– social media integration
– ability to migrate Joomla contentHoping someone can advise
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there
– multi user access with different rights
You can do this, but each user you want to add will need to have their own WordPress.com username accounts. Also, you can’t restrict access to different parts of the site based on user-level. User-level only controls to what extent users can create content and change settings on the dashboard side.

You’ll need to leave your domain with your current registrar, but you can buy the domain mapping upgrade to connect it to your WordPress.com site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
social media integration
You can add sharing buttons to most popular social media platforms, add widgets for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, embed content from several platforms, and the Publicize feature lets you auto-post content to several platforms. See this section of the support pages for full information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/social-tools/
ability to migrate Joomla content
You can import content from any platform that can export data as an XML export file. If you can’t generate a file like that on Joomla, you’ll first need to export it to another service that can import an RSS feed and then export an XML file from that service: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/
