considering switching my blog from squarespace to wordpress

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog is a couple years old, most activity in recent several months. I use Squarespace. I am evaluating WordPress as an option to switch to. I want something fairly easy to set up while looking beautiful and allowing me freedom to be creative, yet not demanding a huge learning curve. Also wonder how complicated is it to transfer all my blog posts, images, subscribers, etc, over?? Another question is regarding automated email campaigns. Squarespace is fairly limited in this. thanks for the help! Robin

  • Hi Robin, we’ve actually got an article covering how to migrate from Squarespace. You can find that here:
    https://transferto.wordpress.com/squarespace/

I’d recommend starting with a free site and importing some articles. If you’ve blogged a lot, you might run out of room, but a free site should give you an idea of how well it will work for you. Staff can help you reset the site if you want to upgrade.

For beautiful layouts, we’ve got several blogging themes here:
    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/blog

Or, if you like customizing your page layout, you can do that and insert blog articles into the pages using blocks.

Regarding site followers, I’m not sure whether Squarespace has a way to export that. If they do, you can invite people as followers:

Or, if you wanted to use a service like Mailchimp to send your newsletters, we have more information on that here:

Add Email Subscriptions to Your Blog

Let us know what else we can help with. Cheers!
