Forums / consistent login failure

consistent login failure

I am unable to login today. Everything worked earlier in the week, but my logins fail consistently across multiple (different) browsers today.

*I get a failed redirection notice in the URL line and the WP login field is grayed out; I can’t enter anything.*

From other forum entries with the same problem, I’ve noticed I’m not alone and I’ve begun to suspect this is “an IE6 problem”.

NB: *No, I’m not using IE6 — “an IE6 problem” happens when a web designer abandons web standards and codes pages to the quirks of a specific web browser.*

I have a nasty suspicion whoever implemented the login screen changes uses Google Chrome and tested it only under Google Chrome. Other people having problems seem to be using nonChrome browsers and so am I.

I post on weekends; I have 32 posts (for today and tomorrow) ready and can’t do so because someone altered the WP login screen for the worse. (I’d use your app to post but the built-in editor breaks my workflow; it’s semi-usable but extremely tedious.)

Anything you can do to get this message into the hands of someone that can return functionality to the WP login screen would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help. :)

Typical WordPress strategy. Make untested changes on a Friday afternoon and then go home for the weekend. This has happened so many times previously!

    Hey @0ddn1x

Can you confirm which browser and device you are using, please?

As a work around, please use this link – https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?no_calypso

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Hi @apetcher.

I’ve had minor technical issues with WP in the last dozen years, but this is a game-stopper; from where I’m sitting now, this looks like un-specified parties in WP’s Dev and QA have dropped the ball.

I’ll wait before leaping up and down. I’ve had good experiences with WP’s fora staff (and one awesome Happiness Engineer) in the past and I’ll see what they can come up with. ;)

If that fails, I’ll consider posting (just this once) today and tomorrow via WP’s client software, but that’s not a viable long-term solution.

    Hey @0ddn1x

Can you let me know what browser and browser version you are on, please?

Thanks for getting back to me, @dougaitken.

I’m not sending from a Wireless Mobile Device; this is a desktop. Both my Pale Moon and Qupzilla browsers can “login” to your WP dummy page without problems.

(Both browsers are the latest releases.

Have you a workaround link that actually connects me to my WP account? If so, I’d be deeply grateful. :)

We’re working on a login bug this morning. Things SHOULD be fixed. But you may need to log out/in again (if you are currently logged in) and/or clear your browser cache.

Let me know if you are still having trouble.

I’ll close this thread and re-open (assuming that’s possible) it if it re-occurs. Thanks for your efforts, staff-ozmodiar. :)
