Constant Freezing When Adding a Block
-
I’m brand new to word press just trying to click around and learn the tool. But, after I add a few blocks the editor becomes extremely slow. I’ll try to add any type of block and it will freeze for about a minute then finally load the block. It does this constantly and is making wordpress quite unusable. I’ve also tried using the desktop app and it does the same thing. I have a ryzen 9 5900x and 32gigs of ram with a 3080 so I know it’s not my system
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This seems to be a connection problem or interference by a browser extension or anti-virus.
You could start by performing a traceroute from your computer (so not through an online traceroute service!) to your site, to find a possible bottleneck.

I’m not sure what a trace route is but it’s not my site that I’m having an issue with, its the wordpress editor. Trying to place any block even just a heading down will cause it to freeze. I’m using the desktop app and only have windows defender.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing the details. Since you’re experiencing slow performance with the WordPress editor on both the desktop app and browser, here are a few things you can try:
- Disable browser extensions: If you’re using a browser, try disabling any extensions that might interfere with the editor. Sometimes ad blockers or other extensions can cause performance issues.
- Try another browser: If you haven’t already, try using a different browser to see if the issue persists.
- Clear cache: You’ve already cleared the cache in WordPress, but it might help to clear your browser cache again, especially if you’ve made recent updates.
- Check your internet connection: Sometimes, connection issues can cause the editor to freeze, so ensure that your internet connection is stable.
Let me know if the issue continues after trying these steps, and we can explore further troubleshooting options.
