Constantly redirecting to WordPress Dashboard
-
Hi, there.
We’re finding that our URL blog.quickanddirtytips.com which typically redirects to qdtblog.wordpress.com — is going directly to our WordPress dashboard, even when we log out and clear our cache.
Additionally, the same thing is happening when we “preview” a draft …instead of showing us the preview, it’s going directly to our WordPress dashboard.
Any insight you could provide would be really helpful.
Thanks!
Ellen
Blog url: http://qdtblog.wordpress.com/ -
We actually have no record of this domain in our system.
It looks like you’re forwarding it (either through your registrar or hosting provider) directly to your Dashboard.
If you want to properly map it, please follow this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/

Hi, Macmanx.
Thanks for responding.
The domain is actually http://qdtblog.wordpress.com — it’s hosted on wordpress but you’re right, the forward URL is through our hosting provider.
We’ve taken a further look at the issue, and I think the main problem is that currently, anyone who posts to the blog MUST log-out of their account, otherwise whether we use either qdtblog.wordpress.com or blog.quickanddirtytips.com — it redirects to the dashboard. When people log out however, it will go directly to the blog.
Is there a way around this? It only just started happening this week. Prior to that, we could stay logged into our accounts & access the blog without an issue.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Please make sure that you aren’t forwarding it, and that you have the DNS record properly configured: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/
For now, I set the primary domain back to http://qdtblog.wordpress.com/

Hi, there. I touched base with our engineering team and this is what they said:
“We are doing cname as required by wordpress. See snippet from Godaddy’s account manager. It is not setup as forwarding. I think issue is on wordpress side.
Also, see below the record check from independent source
(http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/legacy/?formaction=DNSLOOKUP&ToolFormName=customlookup&name=blog.quickanddirtytips.com&r=235660&detail=0&type=CNAME )For image example 2, click here.”
If you could help us investigate further, that’d be great. Thank you!

The problem here is that on the WordPress.com side of things you purchased a site redirect upgrade. This is for pointing a WordPress.com site to another host, not for having your blog.quickanddirtytips.com domain work with the WordPress.com site.
What you actually want to do is follow the steps we have for buying domain mapping at:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/I’ve removed the site redirect upgrade and added 12 credits to your account so that you can buy the domain mapping. Once you do that your custom domain will work correctly.
