contact form
-
sorry – i know this has been done before – but i’ve read the previous three threads, and followed all the advice there and it still won’t work.
ie simply add [contact-form] and it provides you with one
i’ve tried adding a return. i’ve tried both visual and html entry boxes. i’ve tested it logged in and logged out and got others to test it for me.
mystifyingly i did see the end result once – i had removed the ‘add comments’ option – saved and viewed the post – and it still didn’t work, but there was a live link on ‘no comments’ at the bottom – when clicked, voila! there was the form. unfortunately it then disappeared again, whatever i do.
it would be good to get it to work, as it’s a good simple solution that fits in with the rest of what i’m trying to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You’re putting it in a post rather than a page. You have to go to write > page and do it there.

Actually according to the FAQ, it should work on a post http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/how-do-i-make-a-contact-form/

Actually I just viewed the source and then realized the problem is that the link we were given is through the categories, which only show a summary of the posts with means the contact fields do not show on that page.
If you go to the single post page, the contact stuff shows up. http://meconopsisfilms.wordpress.com/2008/09/16/contact-us/ .
I still suggest doing it as a page so that it will show up in the top page navigation. Doing it as a post is a little cumbersome.

Oh, I agree it should be in a page. Just didn’t want somebody to read this later and say “huh?”
“Contact us” shouldn’t be a category, anyway.

Many thanks for the help and sorry for the delayed response! I’ll follow your suggestions and fix it.
