when I add form block and follow all steps to do contact form and save – it shows up this way: [contact -form ]

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hmm, that’s odd. Just to be sure, are you following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/

If so, would you please share the URL of the post or page with the problem? We’ll be able to dig into that and see what’s happening on your site.

Yes, I followed the steps exactly – both the text on that page as well as video tutorial. I have deleted the form from my site – I will go in now and add it to the bottom of my page – I just have the one page – rcbcbookclub.wordpress.com.

FYI: here are steps I took:
    1. clicked on blocks
    2. selected Form
    3. Selected Contact Form
    4. Made Message required and changed text
    5. went to settings for whole form and added my email and message subject line
    6. unchecked form
    7. Saved changes

  • Hi there,

Did you delete the form again? If so, try the steps once more and if it still doesn’t work, let us know. We’ll be happy to take a look at the form from our end to see if we can pinpoint the issue.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I just re-added it and I am having the same issue. All that shows up on the site is [contact-form]

    Thanks for researching the problem.

  • Hi there,

This is a bug with the form block:

The way the block currently works, it can only be displayed on a blog post or a regular page. But it won’t work the way you’ve added it directly to your Home template. It also won’t work if you add it to the 404, Index, Archive or Search templates.

We’re working on this issue on our end, but in the meantime, you can fix it for your site by setting up an actual homepage instead:

Right now you have your homepage content added to your site’s Home template. Instead of doing that, create a new page at Pages ->Add New. Copy all your content (https://d.pr/i/wbmGVm), including the contact form block, over to this new page. Once you’re done, publish the page.

Then go back to Settings ->Reading, at the top select the option to use a static front page, and select your new page to set it as your front page.

That should do the trick, but if anything doesn’t look right once you reach that point, let us know.
