Thank you.
I have another question. Why doesn’t my email address go directly to my email? Rather, it takes users to gmail where they have so to sign in. What if someone doesn’t have a gmail account?

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com. Have you entered two different email addresses at these locations (see below) or have you entered the same one at both locations?
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

I am becoming very frustrated with WordPress.
On my contact page, I want to set up a link to my email via the email address I provide in the body of my text. How do I do this? It should be a simple matter of setting up a hyperlink.
Next, I have set up a text widget for my email address. However, when you click on it, it doesn’t link you to my email address. Again, this should be a simple matter of setting up a hyperlink.
Both my email addresses point to the same email address.
Can someone walk me through this?

I see an email address on your contact Page.
A contact page and a contact form are not the same thing. In fact posting yopur email address on your blog defeats the purpose of using a contact form.
A contact form is a secure form that’s offered because posting an email address simply means that every email address harvesting spam bot crawling the internet can harvest your email address. Then the spammers who created the program will spam your site and will also sell your email email address to other spammers.

To create an active email address link see this is the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
Put your E-mail address where it says YourEmailAddressHere. Put your name or whatever you want the name to say where it says NameHere.
<a href="mailto:YourEmailAddressHere">NameHere</a>
