Contact form
-
I’m sure I’m missing something, but this page
seems to say that all I have to do to create a contact form on my wordpress blog is to type “[contact-form]” in any post or page. So I went ahead and did that both in an HTML widget and on a new page, and all I got in my preview was text that read “[contact-form]“.
Am I missing something?

I’ve has some issues with the contact form code. Put it into the page while in HTML view. Also, turn comments off for the page otherwise it will cause confusion.

thesacredpath, do you know what I’m doing wrong? Is it really as simple as typing [contact-form] into any page? Because that doesn’t seem to be working for me.
-
As I suggested, put it into the page in HTML view. I’ve had to do that in the past. Don’t use the quotes (if you were), just
[contact-form]

OK now it worked for some reason, which is strange because I don’t think I did anything different.

Is there a way to remove the title that’s now appearing over the photograph?

So glad you asked this… I had no idea it was possible. Now I have a Contact page on my site. Thanks!

You could also make the contact form a Child Page of the About Page to hide it in the navbar, but then it will be of course less visible. Or as Vivian suggested, just make the title shorter. You can write whatever you want in the body of the Page together with the contact form. My contact form is a part of my About Page.

I am looking for a simple submit button for free newsletters to grow my list. I would like 2 input boxes. One for first name and one for email address. I cannot find anything in HELP to find this code or how to do. I am not interested in the [contact-form]. I am not looking for someone to submit comments. Just a simple opt-in box… Much appreciated if anyone has instructions to share on this?
-
That would require a form, and forms are not allowed here due to security concerns.
You could create and host a form at another site such as http://www.formspring.com/ and then link to it from your blog.
-
Thank you for your input. If I upgraded my account, would that make a difference? Or, can I have a form using http://www.wordpress.org ?
-
There is no upgrade to allow forms. If you host your own site using the software available at wordpress.org, you can do anything you want.
-
I just used this and I’m super excited to have a contact form… however, the input boxes are this ugly pale yellow color, and my text is white… so when you’re leaving a comment, you can’t read what you’re typing?
Any way to change this?

Send us a Message Page (do you like that title)?

Oh, by the way–it looks fine if you’re logged in to wordpress… logout first. Then you’ll see what I’m talking about.
-
Hmm – what browser are you using? I checked it out once I was logged out and didn’t see that problem (using FF 3.0.3). I also checked it in IE7 and it looks fine.
-
I’m using IE7. But I just tried it on a different computer, and didn’t have that problem. It must be a Windows setting in my profile only.. oops! Thanks for checking!!
