Contact Form Email #2 issue

All emails work correctly as long as it does not pull the email using a short code. If a short code is used in the email #2 customer confirmation tab it generates a server error. If i manually input the email where the short code would normally go, it works. I am having the same problem with the first name short code. The email shows Hi [field id=custname], yet it pulls all the other data by shortcode in the form correctly. The other thing i don’t understand is when i input into the ‘ID’ field, wordpress creates the shortcode without quotes. If wordpress assigns an ID it creates a shortcode like this:
[field id=field_aee4120]. I am not as computer literate as ya’ll but my guess is it is looking at these short codes as regular text. No matter what combination i try, i cannot get it to work. I just don’t understand why it is just the email shortcode and the first name shortcode that are giving me problems. All the other codes work correctly and submit all the data it was programmed to fetch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
