Contact form fields in wrong order

    I am setting up my first contact form. When I test it out, some of the fields are out of order and sort of run into each other, making it hard to read.

    The code is: 

    [contact-form][contact-field label='Your Name and Position' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='Your Email' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='PTA Name' type='text' required='1'/][contact-field label='PTA Code #10-' type='text' required='1'/][contact-field label='School District' type='text' required='1'/]

[contact-field label='Arts in Education Chair' type='text'/][contact-field label='Arts in Education Chair Email Address' type='text'/][contact-field label='Arts in Education Chair Address and Phone' type='textarea'/]

[contact-field label='Awards Chair' type='text'/][contact-field label='Awards Chair Email Address' type='text'/][contact-field label='Awards Chair Address and Phone' type='textarea'/]

    When I click “Submit” I get:
    Your Name and Position: Test2
    Your Email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Arts in Education Chair Address and Phone: Test 2 Street Anywhere, USA 555-5555
    PTA Name: Test 2 PTA
    PTA Code #10-: 111
    School District: Test2 School District
    Arts in Education Chair: Test2 Chair
    Arts in Education Chair Email Address: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Awards Chair: barb
    Awards Chair Email Address: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Awards Chair Address and Phone: Test 2 Street Anywhere, USA 555-5555

    The 3rd field “Arts in Education Chair Address and Phone: ” should not be there, it belongs further down!

    Then I get the email and looks the same (out of order) with another problem:
    Your Name and Position: Test2
    Your Email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    Arts in Education Chair Address and Phone: Test 2 Street Anywhere, USA
    555-5555
    PTA Name: Test 2 PTA
    PTA Code #10-: 111
    School District: Test2 School District
    Arts in Education Chair: Test2 Chair Arts in Education Chair Email Address: (email visible only to moderators and staff) Awards Chair: barb Awards Chair Email Address: (email visible only to moderators and staff) Awards Chair Address & Phone: Test 2 Street Anywhere, USA 555-5555

    The fields are not on separate lines! It’s like a big run on sentence.
    Please let me know if this can be fixed or is it a bug.

    Hi Ann,

    Could you let me know where I can find your form on your site so that I can try and work with it? Also, do you mind if in the course of this I try submitting it a couple of times? I’ll do most of my testing on a test site, but I may need to test it on your page too.

    Hiya,

    I’ve been testing your form on my own test site, and the only issue which I can replicate is that the result which gets reported to you is usually the first non-required input (so in your case, the Arts in Education Chair result comes in before Name, Email, PTA Name, etc). When I did all of my testing, I didn’t experience any issues with results coming back on the same line at all. That may be a result of your email provider. I was using gmail, which seems to work great.

    I have reported the strange bug about the out-of-order results, however I don’t have any timeframe on when or if it will get addressed (since everything actually works, it is really just annoying). I’ll let you know if or when I get any additional information!

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry it took so long to get back to you on this, but it was a while before our developers were able to dig in to the issue. They have though and while they were able to discover why the results were coming in out of order, there is not anything which they will be able to do about it.

    The results are designed to return the first text area towards the top of the results (after the required results). If you look at the input types, that is what is happening here:

    You are receiving your required responses (Name, Email, etc), and then you get the first Text Area (as opposed to a simple text field).

    This order relates back to when the contact form was first created and isn’t something which they can update right now. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!

    Thanks so much for the follow up! At least the developers are aware of the problem. I am going to play with it and maybe change the Text Area to separate Simple text fields and see if I get different results. I appreciate your help.
