Contact form goes to the wrong email
-
I have a contact form that worked fine for about 3 years. It recently started going to the wrong email. I’ve searched through the wordpress.com forum for different solutions, like verifying my account email is correct, that the contact form goes to a specific email if it’s different than the account, and by adding a shortcode to make it go to a specific email…none have corrected my issue.
Here’s the page: http://openenvelopestudio.com/request-a-consultation/
I’m not sure what I did to unlink the account or the contact form – I might’ve messed with my avatar, but I thought I linked everything to the correct email.
Thanks in advance!

Hi ,
Do you see your (correct)email populated in the contact form when you goto the page? If you do see the email id then mails must be delivered to that id.
You might want to check on the notification settings to check if things are correct. -
Yes, the notification settings show my email is correct and the correct email is populated on the form.

I just submitted a test form at the site. Please do check if you received the contact form request.
Also is there any other user(admin/author) on the blog who could have edited the contact form? Is the contact form request ending in one of their mails? -
It went to the wrong email address – which is my personal email instead of my business email. There is another admin/author, but I didn’t add her until recently. I’m pretty sure that it was my doing that changed the email route, but I can’t figure out how to set it right. By now it seems like a glitch.

I just made a test contact form here: http://openenvelopestudio.com/test-contact-form/
It goes to the correct email address…so I’m at a loss why my original form goes to the wrong one.

Hey there, Angelica!
Please try this test for me:
- Go to the link below:
https://openenvelopestudio.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=18&action=edit
- Click Add Contact Form button.
- In the window, you’ll see your old contact form. Click on the tab labeled Email notifications.
- Type the email address to which you want your notification sent. Click Save.
- You’ll be sent back to the main Form Builder. Click to add this form to your site. It won’t add a second form, but it will make updates to the current one.
Once that’s done, log out of WordPress.com. Visit your site as a administrator. Fill out the contact form and send it.
Please let me know if the notification was sent to the correct address.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

I tried that before – and did again just now. I sent a test and it went through to the wrong email. Do I need to just delete the contact form and start over? Or delete the page and start over?

It’s weird – I copied and pasted everything from my old request a consultation form and pasted it onto my test contact form and it went to the correct email! Something to do with just that page, I suppose.

Angelica,
Since the original page isn’t working properly, I’m going to send you a private email. I’d like to know what your “old” email address is, so I can search through your site for instances of it.
If you respond to me in that email, it’ll better protect your privacy by keeping the address off the public forum.
Keep an eye out!

We found the solution! Because the original contact form was created on a page with an author different from Angelica, the email was going to that old email address.
To solve this, we changed the author to Angelica in the Page Editor and saved it. Problem solved…the email is now going to the correct address.
Those contact form emails (embedded on pages and posts) will go to the Author, rather than the site’s administrative address.
Thanks!
