contact form issues
-
Hi, I’m using the most recent version of WP and I’m trying to use the new contact form capability. I type “[contact-form]” where I’m supposed to and it only ends up posting the text, not the actual form. Anyone else have this problem and might be able to help me out?

Do you have a wordpress.com blog? If you do have a wordpress.com blog then these instructions you refer to above usually work and if they don’t you need to contact staff http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/how-do-i-make-a-contact-form/
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=15285If by “most recent version of WP” you are referring to software downloaded from wordpress.org then the correct forum for you is at http://wordpress.org/support
Take note that this “contact form” feature is only for wordpress.com hosted blogs and that wordpress.com is a WP-MU multi-user blogging platform. It’s different software from the wordpress.org version.

I’m having the same issue… I copied and pasted the text [contact-form] as directed and the only thing that shows up on my contact page is the text [contact-form] and some code above a comment box. I thought this was supposed to be a nice little fill-in-the-blank kind of page.

Try pasting it into the page in code view rather than in visual. It shouldn’t really matter, but I’ve found that seems to work better. Also, turn off “comments” for that page otherwise it gets quite confusing.

I just tried it on my test blog with Andreas09, pasting it into code view and turning off “comments” under discussion at the top of the right row of blue bars, and it worked for me.

Hmm. I’m having the same problem. I’ve tried posting it in code view & in the visual mode. I’ve tried physically typing it out instead of pasting it – it either shows up as text or a simple comment box is inserted, but no contact form.

If you are viewing the contact page while logged in, all you will see is the comment looking contact box (because the system knows who you are while logged in and will automatically fill in the information and not display the fields to enter name, email and website info. Log out and look at it.
Again, make sure comments are disabled for the page under “discussion” in the write page page.

Thanks a lot. /me having the same issue today, but it got settled with this page.
I hope these awesome help will be able to be translated into Japanese and another languages. -
Through trial and error I’ve found how to do this without having to fiddle around in code view:
1. Uncheck “Allow Comments”
2. After pasting [contact-form] key in a return.
That seems to do it.

Contact form allows them to send you an email without you having to put your email address on the blog. They may have something they want to tell you that they do not want to post in public.
