Contact Form missing emails

Our contact form is not sending all enquiries to our chosen email address. Some forms go to the correct inbox and some go to spam. Not all that we take out of Spam continue to send to our inbox. We have recently switched over our website to this new wordpress one and our numbers for Contact Forms have dropped significantly. We were having an average of 20 enquiries a day through the old website contact form and only have around 5 since we switched over to this new site. Could the emails be going elsewhere? And why even when you un-tick ones as “Spam” do they still not always send to inbox?

    Hey Laura,

I apologize for the difficulty. To be clear, are the contact form submissions being marked as spam in WordPress.com or in your email inbox? If it’s marked as Spam at WordPress.com, you will find it in a spam folder here:

Alternatively, it could be that your email service is filtering the emails as spam, which happens if it recognizes certain key words.

For the former (WordPress.com marking stuff as spam), you’ll just need to mark the object as “Not Spam” from your Spam folder under Dashboard -> Feedback -> Spam (only available when there are items in the spam folder). This will train Akismet, our spam-blocking service to learn which items are spam and which items aren’t.

If it’s the latter (your email service), marking the item as “not spam” may not solve the issue. You may need to add certain words or subject lines to a safe list with your email provider.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Initially most of the enquiries via the contact form were going to Spam on the Feedback. We just click “not spam” and that was solving the problem. However today we did that with an email and it still didn’t arrive at our email inbox. Its not appearing in the spam filter for our email provider either. We have had to remove the form for the moment as we have been losing bookings due to not getting all the emails.

    Hey Laura,

When you mark a contact form submission as “Not Spam” at WordPress.com, you will not receive an email notification of the submission. Does that make sense?

When you have a moment to reactivate your contact form, I’d love to hear if this issue is still happening!
