Contact Form not displaying after inserting shortcode

Hi folks – I’ve searched the forums and found a couple forum posts asking the same question, but have not found any resolution.

I’ve inserted the shortcode [contact-form] into a WordPress site (www.themindsmechanic.com/contact-us). When I view the page I see the text “[contact-form]” but not an actual contact form. Searching the forums and the WordPress support articles on the topic have not given me a resolution. I like the idea of the shortcode as we just need a simple contact form and this lets me avoid using another plugin.

If anyone could help, I appreciate your comments. Thanks in advance.

Did you sign out of wordpress.com and then view the resulting form? Unless you do you will not see the fields your contact users will see.

OOPS! You said plugin – we do not have FTP access to wordpress.com blogs and we cannot install plugins. You are posting to the wrong forum and getting wrong advice because of that. We provide support only for free hosted wordpress.com blogs. Those who have any other web host must post here > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

The contact form shortcode is only built into wordpress.COM. Your blog being self-hosted, would need either a theme that has a contact form page template, or you will have to use a plugin.

    Okay – thank you both.

    Sorry for the incorrect posting!

Not a problem. The wordpress.COM/wordpress.ORG thing is confusing.
