It’s not been working. Also, I wish to reset the left-hand menu to see form submissions and comments which have changed.

    Many thanks for reaching out.

Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

I am the person responsible for this site and all 52 ‘chapters’. I began writing it in 2010 when it was a paid site. I’m now 12 years older and poorer so I am unable to upgrade to a paid site.

    This is how I sign at the end of all my work;

  • Hi there,

    It’s not been working.

What in particular has been happening with the contact form? It’s currently in draft mode, but I sent a test message and it came through to you.

    Let me know, thanks.

    Hello “staff-doublebassd”,

The email address used with my WordPress site is the one I received your message from, i.e., <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>. This is the email address used since 2010 with WordPress.

I have received no message in that format from you. I have several other email addresses and when I do test, none come through to the Hotmail address.

*That* is what’s not working. I like Hotmail because the Junk Email folder is directly below the Inbox folder. Gmail makes us scroll down to see what’s in it.

What’s not working is that my Hotmail format does not receive, thereby letting me know, that there is form feedback or that a comment has been submitted.

Surely there must be something not working with the contact plugin that is being used. It has not worked for many years. Usually, I must go in and manually remove the spam.

    John

PS: Yes, I see your message in the Feedbcak. Why does the susyetm put a legitimate message in spam. There is *no* message to me in Hotmail that it is there.

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for that additional information.

So to check, are the messages arriving in Hotmail, but going into a spam folder?

I’ve just sent a test message – are you able to confirm if this has been received please?

    Hi Adam,
    I see your message there.

    >>Hello there, This is Adam from WordPress.com.

Q: Is the contact plugin installed on my site designed to send me an automated message to inform me that there is a message there or not?

That’s the real iggy biggy, sir.

    sincerely,
    John

PS: btw, you are the third person from WordPress to work on this issue for me.

  • How long has the contact form page been in draft status? Would you mind publishing the page and seeing if the page being in draft status has been preventing the actual notification from being sent?

    Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

hahaha I’m getting rusty in me ole age and am unsure as to how to publish that. I did not know it was in draft mode as I have stated it used to work…years ago! hahaha That was then, this is now.

However, even when I receive comments, as separate from form feedback, my Hotmail account is not being forwarded those messages whether legit or spam.

There are two separate but related issues here.

Sorry for the confusion. You have two contact forms – one that’s a draft and one that’s published. You can see those pages here:

    https://johnotvos.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page

The one titled “Contact jayöh” is published and what we’ve been using to test these submissions.

I also checked your email delivery logs on our end and it looks like we’re sending out those emails from our system when a submission is made, so it looks like Hotmail may not be delivering every message to you, which is a possibility. You can try searching your email for (email visible only to moderators and staff) which is the email address these notifications are sent from to see if they’re in your trash, spam, or other folders.

This would explain why you’re not getting comment notifications either.

However, we can try one thing. Since your contact page was first created well before the block editor and blocks were even a thing, I wonder if it’s not 100% compatible with the modern version of the WordPress software.

Could you edit your “Contact jayöh” page and add a Form Block and configure it like your existing form, save your changes, then let us know so we can test the new form to see if that makes any difference? You can see how to set up that block here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/

If you have questions or run into trouble, just let us know. Otherwise, we’ll wait to hear back. Thanks!

    Hello,
As you can see from all this messaging, it’s been going on for several days taking your company’s time and mine. I never liked the block system and always tried to switch back to the classic style. It was what I was familiar with.

Now I am being prompted to edit the contact form in a block editor and while I look for the link, I continue to be stymied. This should not be that difficult. While I am a senior, I’m not yet daft.

***I am unable to delete the top part of the Contact form in the draft, as it contains both the original contact form and the changes I made t’other day.

Can we resolve this soon, PLEASE!

    John

Okay, I was able to delete the top half of the contact form and retain the new; i.e., lower portion from this week. I am following the YT tutorial, but am unable to see where the block editor link is on my site since I use the classic editor. Often in the past, I was prompted to change, but, never did.

Please reply by sending me a link to the block editor.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Hello John,

Glad to see some progress being made here.

To access the block editor, click here: https://johnotvos.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page > click Edit, this by default should take you the block editor of the page.

    I hope this helps.

I changed the classic contact form to a block form. Now we’ll see if I get notifications, as I sent two test messages.
