Contact form – post submit message

Hi, how do I edit the post submit message that is displayed to the user after they click on submit (using the default contact form in the Twenty Seventeen theme (not the Jetpack form)?

It currently reads “Message Sent (go back)” and the ‘go back’ is a hyperlink back to the blank contact form submit page.

The blog I need help with is aviationsme.wordpress.com

  • Hi there,

The WordPress.com contact form doesn’t have an option to edit that message. It might be possible using custom CSS to hide the current text and using a pseudo-class and the content property to add in new info, but at best that’s a hack that likely won’t look any good. And to use custom CSS you’d need to be on our Premium Plan as well – http://aviationsme.wordpress.com/ is only on our free plan.

Twenty Seventeen does not have a contact form, nor does any other theme available on WordPress.com. The contact form on your site is the WordPress.com contact form, and that’s the exact same thing as the Jetpack contact form available for self-hosted WordPress sites.

Thanks, but I’m a bit confused. So, the contact form I’m using is actually a WordPress.com or Jetpack form … are either of those then editable regarding the post-submit message?

    Regards, John.

They are one in the same. Jetpack is a plugin used to get WordPress.com features to your self-hosted WordPress site.

As @kokkieh mentioned, most likely not, but it may be possible with CSS and that would require at least the Premium Plan to use CSS.

    Thanks,
