Contact Form; tried setting it up, test emails disappear into the ether.
-
Hi There,
I have an issue with sorting out a contact form for the website/blog I am trying to set up. I tried everything I (and the AI assistant) could think of, but nothing seemed to fix it. I set up the contact form, including the email, where I want to receive the notifications (nothing fancy, it’s the same as the registration email),
(1)tried sending a test email from multiple different emails,
(2)checked that my account didn’t have wonky settings,
(3)checked the spam folder,
(4)tried the default contact form instead of a template,
(5) tried deleting the whole page twice, and setting everything up from scratch,
(6)emptied browser cache about 5 times in between,
(7) refreshed pages every time I changed anything,
and now all that is left, is to ask for help with the issue.
Side note: Nothing has been published yet, and I want to fix all the issues first before I do so.
I’d very much appreciate any help you could give me, as me and Wapuu are out of ideas.

Can you check this troubleshooting FAQ https://wordpress.com/support/troubleshooting-not-receiving-notification-emails/#contact-form-emails
Let us know how that goes.

Thanks for the response.
I checked. Some of the messages were in the spam folder, but most of them were in the “All” tab. I didn’t receive notifications for any of them.
I tried switching to another email to which the form is sent (and back), but that didn’t work either.

If the messages were in the SPAM folder, you wouldn’t have gotten an email notification. Make sure to mark legitimate messages as not spam going forward.
@themagicrobot I was thinking that as well. The other possibility is that @yourngowriter needs to either log out of this account (if the site is Public) or log in to a different account (if the site hasn’t been launched) to test this. I have a niggling memory about that but couldn’t find anything in the current documentation.

And I just tested my contact form on a coming soon site, while logged into this account and using a different email address in the form and the feedback notification arrived to my account admin email.
@yourngowriter Sometimes certain email providers don’t play well with notifications. Here’s what it says in that support guide I linked to earlier: “… we recommend that you try changing the email address to which the form is sent. For example, if you’re using a Yahoo email address, test a Gmail address to see if future emails arrive.”
Can you try changing the email address where your form notifications are sent? https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/#email-address-to-send-to
Give that a try and let us know
