Contact forms disappeared
-
On several pages we had placed contact forms. Today a user mentioned, that on one page he sees only some code. When I checked this, I found that all contact forms on different pages disappeared and only shortcodes remained on the pages. On one page that I checked (http://sg-urbich.de/gymnastik) the last revision ist 11 months old. So what happened here?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
So sorry for the inconvenience.
I do see that you successfully added a working Contact Form on this page:
As you can see in your Page Editor, the contact form coding has changed. Are you able to copy/paste the new code from your Kontakt page into your Gymnastik page? Please let me know…and if this works out for you.
If you need assistance with this, please let me know.
Thanks so much. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Robyn,
thanks for your reply. Yes, I’m able to bring things back running. But I’m not happy that I have to rebuild four different contact forms whereas one remained working – even more on a paid service.
As a technical quite experienced user I’m also interested in some more background informations. What did cause this issue?

Hey there!
The shortcode you had been using — [contact-form-7 id=”6238″ title=”Kontakt”] — is a plugin that works only self-hosted WordPress.org sites:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/However, plugins like this cannot be used on our servers. As you can see, WordPress.com requires a different type of shortcode for contact forms.
Is it possible that you copied and pasted Contact Form 7 from one of your self-hosted sites?
Let me know if that might be the case. Thank you!

That’s really a funny thing. Since the contact form worked well over the last months I can not imagine how the wrong shortcode could come into this blog. This is especially wired because the last revision was 11 months old, as I already mentioned in my initial post.
I run several self hosted blogs too and use Contact Form 7 there. But I’m also aware that things on wordpress.com are different.
It seems that my question will not find an answer. Ok, I fixed the bug and everything is fine for the users. Thank you Robyn for your happiness :-)

Hi there!
Ok, this is such a mystery! I am really glad you let me know about the history of the form working/not working on your WordPress.com site. I’m going to keep an eye out for this issue.
I am sorry you were inconvenienced, and am glad you were able to resolve the problem by installing a new form.
I wish I could have been of more assistance. Thanks again for your patience and best of luck with the site!
Take care :)
