Contact page not redirecting correctly

    Hello,

    A little while ago I upgraded to a personal plan and subsequently learned about the custom email forwarding so I created a (email visible only to moderators and staff) and put in my other email so it redirects.

    Then I edited my contact page to the new email address so I thought it would redirect to my own email but then a few weeks later I saw contact requests on the wp admin page – feedback tab that I had no emails from, so in first response I changed the contact page block email there back to my old one that did use to work…

    Now today I happened to check the feedback tab again and see a new inquiry and this time I also didn’t get the contact request through my email.

    I would like to know why it didn’t redirect and would like to use the custom email in the page if that is possible.

    Strange, as i don’t have mail from the feedback i discovered today. Filling out the fields on the contact page myself did send me mail…

  • Hi there,

    Can you tell me why you want to use the forwarding address with your contact form? The email address you add in the contact form is not visible in any way to people who submit the form, and as it will just forward to your regular Gmail address anyway, it’s much simpler to just keep the contact form set to the actual Gmail address instead.

    That said, our logs show our system has been sending the emails to the Gmail address you’re forwarding to.

    However, I notice the Gmail you’re forwarding to, is different than the Gmail on file for your WordPress.com account (where you’ll receive the notification of my reply here once I send it). Are you sure you’re checking the correct Gmail account for these notifications?

    Also note that Gmail often routes emails from us to the Social or Updates folders, skipping the inbox. So it’s possible the emails are lying there and you just haven’t seen them because you didn’t know to check there. Can you check now if they’re perhaps in those folders?

    Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I understand about the email addresses I wanted to try and use the mail there simply to see if it would work back then.

    Now after trying the contact form again myself I’m kind of suspecting my mail app on imac to be the culprit, having many accounts and some rules..
