Speak up here for quick service knowing there is no phone support. This is a peer support forum where Staff and Volunteers work together cooperatively to provide WordPress.com support. Emailing support means it takes longer to get an answer than posting to the support forums does.
Volunteers answer the majority of all support questions and when we cannot provide support we tag threads for Staff assistance.
We are happy to answer your WordPress.COM questions right here in this thread. Please simply post exactly what you need help with into this thread, knowing there’s rarely ever a question posted here that has not already been asked and answered.

Yes had questions about URL and Registration but am also looking at iPage. I think my questions are answered. I wanted to understand if I could move a URL from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.

I wanted to understand if I could move a URL from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.
No you cannot move .wordpress.com URL.
Yes you can move the content. You create an XML export file of your WordPress.COM content and upload that file into a WordPress.ORG install. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ -
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/1. Hire a web host and purchase a domain http://wordpress.org/hosting/
2. Set up a WordPress.org install and equip it with a theme and plugins.
http://wordpress.org/themes/
http://wordpress.org/plugins/3. To move your content you need to create an XML export file of your content. It will not include the theme and widgets as they cannot be exported. Export your content out of your WordPress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ and import it into the install.
4. WordPress.com is the top level domain here and all blogs hosted by WordPress.com are on .wordpress.com sub-domains.
(a) If you have a significant amount of content to move and that’s not the case in your case, you can purchase a site redirect upgrade from wordpress.comhttp://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
(b) Or if you have domain mapping then see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/#change-name-servers-to-point-the-domain-outside-of-wordpress-com and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/
As you have next to no content you can skip both (a) and (b).
5. Transfer subscribers. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/
6. Set your wordpress.com blog visibility to private. To change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Alternatively you can purchase a Guided Transfer and Staff will do the move and set up for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/ However, it’s unlikely you will need to make that purchase as you don’t have a significant amount of content to move and that’s not the case in your case.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

timethief,
yes very small beginnings, thank you … for your very complete answer; in context invaluable; so greatly appreciated
I needed to understand what I am really planning to work with and how all it all fits together; most excellent
Really “Like” and support the quality of what I see in WordPress. Believe both are very empowering options in a way that is very meaningful and necessary; beneficial on many levels.
Best Regards,
