  I have a free account and want to upgrade to a paid plan. But there seems to be no way to contact WordPress from a free account — no email, no live chat, nothing.

  It is easy to upgrade from a free to a paid plan without staff assistance. Just click “upgrade” on the top left of your dashboard and choose a plan. If you choose the Explorer plan then you’d have access to LiveChat with staff in the future.
