This is a peer support forum where Volunteers and Staff work cooperatively to deliver WordPress.com support. There is no phone support here and we Volunteers do not provide support by email.

Volunteers answer most questions posted into forum threads and Staff monitor. When Volunteers cannot provide the required support we flag threads for Staff attention. Please simply post exactly what you need help with.

On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

For information on individual upgrades please see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/

For information on bundled upgrades see here > http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

No upgrade enables the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required abide by our Terms of Service.

If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to advertise products you do not personally make and/or services your do not personally provide, if you want to sell items you do not personally make directly from your site via an Ecommerce set up with a shopping cart, or if you want to install discussion forums — a self-hosted WordPress site will suit you.

Suddenly, after running my site for years, an extra tab showed up next to my “Home” page titled “#3 No Title”. I didn’t change anything. I realize this is a “no brainer” for most users but I can’t find the simple fix. I’ve read through pages of info that just dance around the edges while pertaining to other issues. Thanks so much.

Did you try going to > Appearance > Menus and deleting it?
    Then click “save menu”.

Does WordPress support domain names that end in “.org”? I already have a .org website. I would like to cancel that account and register the domain through WordPress. Am I able to have a domain ending in “.org” hosted through WordPress?

Also, are there different rates available for non-profit organizations?

    Thanks for your help!

Can you find it here? Dashboard > Pages > All Pages?

Does WordPress support domain names that end in “.org”? I already have a .org website. I would like to cancel that account and register the domain through WordPress. Am I able to have a domain ending in “.org” hosted through WordPress?

    Yes.

If you would like to use your domain to map to from your free hosted wordpress.com blog to it you will first need to set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Also, are there different rates available for non-profit organizations?

No. We all pay the same and we pay up front at the time of purchase – no invoices or purchase orders and no partial payments.

WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country.

In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.

    More about echecks here:
    https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/helpcenter/article/?solutionId=13054&topicID=11500008&m=TCI

WordPress.com also accept Bitcoin for payment of certain upgrades ( bitcoin cannot be used for domain and premium theme purchases) – you can learn more here: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/pay-another-way-bitcoin/

    @alc68 – DON’T CANCEL THE REGISTRATION!!

WordPress.COM is not set up to accept incoming domain name registration transfers – if the registration is allowed to expire it can take 60 days or more for the domain name to revert to the wild – during that time the domain will not send you visitors to a valid web site – and maybe you can register it again after it reverts to the wild and maybe someone will squat on it for ransom

Please follow the domain mapping instructions for an existing domain name above – that keeps the domain name safe
