contacting wp.com user to notify private site changed to wp.org

Hi – I just got a request from a user to have access to my blog on wp.com, which I made private to take it offline. I have moved it to wp.org . Google must still be showing it. Is there a way to contact a user (I only have the wp.com user name, no email address) to let them know my website has moved?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi,
Instead of collecting the user details directly and reaching out to them individually, I would suggest you set up a site redirect. Besides, I am not sure you will be given access to any of the Users credentials. It is against the terms of service.

It is recommend that you do a site redirect so that any body trying to reach out to your WordPress.com site are directly redirected to your WordPress.org site. Here is how you go about it.

You can use the site redirect for a year and then take your WordPress.com site offline. In a year, your site audience will be familiar with your WordPress.org URL

Thank you so much simplysaru. I didn’t know redirecting was possible. Great!
