Content Migration

    I’m trying to migrate all of my content from my WordPress site to a new site hosted by HostGator. They are telling me I need to enter the following pieces of information for my WordPress site, and I can’t figure out how to find them.

    -IP/hostname
    -Control Panel URL
    -Is the control panel Cpanel, Plesk or other?
    -Does this account have an SSL certificate?

    Can anyone tell me how to find this information? I only have the free plan with WordPress, which seems to limit how much of this information I can see, unless I’m missing something.

    Perhaps that information is needed when transferring from a host other than WordPress.com to HostGator.

    Since your site is on WordPress.com, refer to this guide which lists the steps involved:
    https://move.wordpress.com/

    You’ve already done step 1 (Find a New Host) so you can skip that.

    For step 2 (Install WordPress), refer to this HostGator support page instead:
    http://support.hostgator.com/articles/how-to-install-wordpress

    Then proceed with steps 3-8 where you’ll export/import content, connect a domain name, and add Jetpack.
