Content stealing
-
I’m just wondering if there is any way to avoid my content being stolen?
I’m going to put pieces of my novel up on my blog, but am so paranoid (no offence guys but its hard to trust the average joe not to try and make money off your hard work these days) about it being stolen.
Any thoughts?
Thanks :)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to make sure it won’t be stolen except not to publish it in any form.
I’ve worked in the publishing industry, and believe me the benefits of posting it completely outweigh the disadvantages. After all, if the publisher contacts the thief and says, “I want three more chapters like this” the thief isn’t going to be able to write them, is he?

Also, this is very cynical but it must be said: if you hope to make money off a novel, you’re already somewhat divorced from reality. Why not just bond with the idea of getting your work known, getting it read and appreciated? Because most novels don’t earn out and the last I heard the average advance for a novel was less than a thousand dollars. You’d literally make more taking that time and putting it in bagging groceries or something.
