Content still available after XML download then blog deletion?

I’ve downloaded my .xml and now want to delete my blog entirely. I want the option of uploading the content to anther blog (wp.org) at a later date. Is this still possible after deletion?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you download the .xml file then you have all the blog’s information (as in tags, posts, pages, comments and categories), which means you can import it to whatever other site whenever you like, even if you have deleted the blog. The only thing you’ll have to consider is any images or uploads from the blog, which won’t necessarily be moved across automatically. My advice, instead of deleting the blog, just set the privacy to ‘private blog’ so you can return to the blog, but nobody else can see it.
