All of my more recent posts begin with a line that says “Examples played and reviewed in this article:” followed by a handful of graphic images (.png) in a gallery. After that the post starts.
My most recent post (11/25/14) shows one image of the gallery and the text from the opening sentence (“Examples played…”) concatenated with the first few sentences of the post. This ends with a link that says “Continue reading”.
Why doesn’t it just show the entire post like all the others? How can I fix it?
Thank you.

You have More Tag enabled on your post. You will have to remove More Tag to get your full post displayed.
Go to Edit Post and remove the more tag. The linked support document explains how. :-)
Also just for your information, that post is a sticky post which is why it has a different style with blue background.

Thanks for the information.
I copied the entire block of code (from the Text view) into a text editor and did a search. There is no “more” or “continue reading” code anywhere in it. I then pasted it back in, but I’m still getting the “Continue reading” link.
Also, I don’t have the “More” icon selected. Any ideas on what else that I should check?
Thank you for your help.
(Oh, thanks for the tip about the “Sticky.” I turned that off.

It is odd that Continue Reading link is appearing on your first post despite removing the more tag.
I tagged this for staff’s assistance. Hopefully they will demystify this for us.

staff-happychia,
There is no reason for Staff to get involved . I already explained the reason for the abbreviated post in another thread by the same member, Correct “Continue reading.”Since the issue is stated more completely in this thread, I will post the solution here as well, with a bit more explanation.
Your top post, 43. Combinations 2, is the only one I found with the “Continued reading” link, though I only checked several on the front page.
On the Twenty Ten theme, that style is a result of either adding the category “gallery,” or setting the post format to gallery.
The first clue came from recognizing the effect you reported in a image in the “Special Styles for formatted posts” section of the WordPress page on the Twenty Ten theme. Then I activated the theme on inactive website of mine and found that the each of the effects you describe (truncation of the post ended by “Continue reading” link, and the heading “Examples played and reviewed in this article:” being attached to the head of the article) result from one or both of the following
- adding the post category “gallery”
- setting the post format to “gallery.”

Granted, I’m not knowledgeable about many of the features of WP. But I went into my last half-dozen previous posts and all except the last one have the category radio button “Standard” selected. I see that the most recent one is marked “Gallery.”
However, I just opened that most recent one “43. Combination 2” in Safari and it still has the “Continue reading” problem. It shows just part of the opening of post 43. and then it shows the entirety of post 42 — even though it’s supposed to simply show the most recent post.
Ideas?

Hi there,
I have verified that the issue was that the post http://orchestrasounds.com/2014/11/26/43-combinations-2/ was set to be a Gallery-style post. I went ahead and set it to standard for you and updated it and it is now longer showing the “Read More” prompt.
If you so desire, you can change it back at any time, however it is now displaying as you were previously requesting.

Thank you. I’m still unsure about the “why” of this problem.
I’d always left the Format as “Standard” so I don’t remember changing it to “Gallery.” Nevertheless, it’s certainly possible that I changed it and that was the cause of the issue.
I just opened the site in Chrome, Safari and Firefox and it looks correct in all of them.
Thanks to all who’ve offered help here. It is one of those many truly heartwarming aspects of the web that a community reaches out to help others. Thank you all

It can happen sometimes where options get checked by accident through the course of composing a post.
I’m glad it’s looking correct to you now! Have a great day.
