-
I’m using the Sela theme for my blog and I’m trying to insert a continue reading tab in my posts but it won’t show once I update the post. It still shows the entire text of my post. Does this theme not allow for a continue reading tab?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m trying to insert a continue reading tab in my posts but it won’t show once I update the post.
How did you insert a continue reading tab?
Does this theme not allow for a continue reading tab?
All WordPress themes allow the truncation of post content with the More tag. On some themes the More tag displays as a “Continue reading –>” link.

I put the insert read more tag into the post and updated it but then when I look at the post it still shows the entire text.

Note that the More Tag support page says
You can truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home and archive pages. When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full post.
The tag doesn’t truncate the full post.

Not sure if I understand. I would like to have all my blog posts with a continue reading tab so that when readers look at my blog they don’t need to scroll through each full post.
-
Some themes show post excerpts instead of the full post, but most themes, including Sela, show the full post.
Perhaps you could use excerpts. I don’t know how excerpts work on the Sela theme. The Excerpts support page says,
Depending on the theme you have activated, excerpts you assign may be displayed on your homepage, RSS feed, or archives page. Your theme will also determine whether or not your excerpt is followed by a link that points readers to the full-length post.
-
I also tried that but didn’t make a difference. I guess I don’t understand why the continue reading button doesn’t show up in any of the posts?
-
Yes, of course, that must be frustrating. I’ve tagged the topic for Staff Attention. They should be able to identify the trouble, and provide a remedy or alternative.

Here is your blog page, your stream of posts: https://salepepeamore.wordpress.com/blog/. Each post is truncated and has a Continue reading link to the full post.
-
That’s why I quoted above from the More tags page,
You can truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home [meaning here the blog or posts page] and
archive
pages.
All posts are truncated in the archives pages as well. Here are some of your archives pages:
Category (Capri): https://salepepeamore.wordpress.com/category/capri/
Tag (Italy): https://salepepeamore.wordpress.com/tag/italy/
Author (Vanessa): https://salepepeamore.wordpress.com/author/vanessalorig/ -
Correction: The quote should have been, again,
You can truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home [meaning here the blog or posts page] and archive pages. When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full post.
