Continued drive toward inefficiency
-
@supernovia Thanks for the suggestion. I believe part of the problem with my using styles is that my theme doesn’t support it (no ‘Editor” under Appearance). And this gets us into whole other issues related to how I want my site to look versus what themes are available versus building my own site.
I’ve not tried it in a while, but the last time I tried finding a theme similar to my current one, I was unsuccessful. Leaving aside the issue that I specifically switched to my current theme (after a lengthy process) because it was supposed to be compatible with blocks and a supported theme (which it kind of is, but not really), I also tried replicating my site using the site editor (starting from scratch) and that ultimately ended in failure and frustration.
So, yes, part of what I endure is of my own making (because current themes don’t appeal to me), but also because the block editor is still buggy and constantly being “tweaked”. And, by buggy, I mean that I’ve gotten sued to stuff not acting like it’s supposed to.
Before you suggest contacting support, know that I spent a considerable amount of time documenting bugs and reporting issues. Some eventually get addressed, some are ongoing, and some I’m told will never be addressed. For instance, I wouldn’t mind using the Classic Editor or Classic Editor blocks . . . except the menus scroll out of the frame as I edit.
So, OK, fine, it is what it is . . . but then new issues creep up (like my current complaint concern), and it just gets old because it seems sloppy, and it’s as if developers aren’t even trying to provide an efficient interface; just a glitzy one.
Anyway, here endeth my rant.
Thanks again, but I’ll adapt, and maybe — someday — stuff will be great . . . but meantime, I’ll occasionally rant before going back to grumbling sottovoce and making do.

OK @disperser. Know at least you’re being heard; anytime you’ve got a specific issue (scrolling out of the window for example) please do make a thread with that topic so we can get it surfaced.
I’m actually waiting on masonry-type layouts for my site before I switch to the full-block themes, so we might be in the same boat there. I can also say those themes have come a long way since their inception, so hopefully they’ll continue to progress.
