Continued Reading Button

I have the Expound theme. On the front page the featured post has a “continue reading” button to click and it takes you to it’s own page. With this theme there are up to four additional feature posts highlighted below the feature post but they don’t have a “continue reading” button below the intro text. It’s not always intuitive that you are suppose to click on the picture or text to go to it’s page. How can I add a button for the additional feature posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

I checked the theme’s code and unfortunately couldn’t find a possible solution. The theme was hardcoded to only display excerpts with no “continue reading” button. Since modifying the theme code is not possible here, then I’d say there’s no way to do what you asked for. I agree with you that such a button will make things clearer for readers, though.

If you use a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts then here’s the workaround to compel the display of full posts on the front page. Edit the posts and look below the editor box to locate the excerpt module. You can control the length of the excerpt displayed on the front page and the exact excerpt that is displayed there.

You compose your whole post first and before you publish it you switch to the HTML (Text) editor, copy the code for what you wish to appear, paste it into the Excerpt box below the editor, and publish the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts
If you want to create your own excerpt for each post then that will have to be done on every post.
