Contributor byline on blog – link leads nowhere

Hello. I have just started contributing to a fellow bloggers blog in return for a byline on the blog. However, I’ve just uploaded the first post and when I click on my display name under ‘By’ it is linked, but the link doesn’t go anywhere. I get the message:

“Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.”

The link it goes to is on the blog I am guesting on, as follows:

http://worldofjournal.wordpress.com/author/%5Bmy wordpress.com username]

I know I am probably missing something really obvious, but I’ve been up since 4:30am and my brain is tired already!! Please can anyone advise what I can do to ensure that I either get a link back to my blog or to create a section on the blog I am guesting on about me?

Have you already contributed to that blog? Until you do, nothing will link anywhere.

Hello, thanks for such a speedy response. I’ve just uploaded the first post, waiting for the blog owner to approve it.

Can I ask – seeing as she won’t be doing that for an hour or so – what will I see once it goes live and I have therefore contributed?

Yes, has done so now. Sorry, been out all day. It just goes through to an archive of my posts – i.e. the one just posted. What we want to try and do is get a link through to my blog from hers. Ho hum!! Thanks again for your help earlier, meant what I said about not meaning to have bugged you.

I’m contributing to someone’s blog but I never wait for her to approve the content of mine cause I’ve superpowers :)

Ah, that is not how the Author link works at WordPress.com. What you can do is have her put a text widget in the sidebar with a link to your blog OR you can put a signature in each post by hand with that link.

Regardless of the theme, author bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog.
