Contributor invites and where they write post help!
-
Hello WordPress world! I wanted to know the specific instructions to give to a class I will be inviting on how not only to accept their role as contributors to the class blog (aka WordPress site), but also where/how they are supposed to write their blog posts. The reason I”m asking for specific instructions is because:
a) I am completely new to this whole WordPress world and want to understand what goes on…
and
b) I want absolutely no wiggle room for excuses from the class.Thank you so much in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress is an awesome tool to use with a class! I have found some very specific instructions how to invite and have your authors accept their roles as contributors.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
So in essence: You will be inviting your students as new users. From your dashboard you will follow the path Users>Invite new. The window that will open will allow you to type the email addresses of your students. And you will be able to select the role that they will play. You said that you want them to accept their role as a contributor.Your invited user will receive an invitation email. Within the email will be a button for “Accept Invitation”. If they are logged into their WordPress.com account, they will be taken directly to your blog. They will be able to access the blog by going to their My Blogs section of their dashboard when they log in.
If they have questions as to what it exactly means to be a contributor and what your role as an administrator means, here is a support document that best explains the different roles. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
I hope that explains it for you.

Before you commit you may want to check out edublogs. See: http://edublogs.com
Edublogs lets you easily create & manage student & teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos & podcasts – it’s safe, easy and secure. The site runs on the same WordPress software we do here ie. wpMU (wordpress multiuser). However, the site is specifically set up for teachers and students. All edublogs are are advertising free, whereas our blogs here at WordPress.com are not ad-free, unless we buy an annually renewable Premium bundle upgrade.
