Contributors need to be able to include media in their articles

I am looking for a feature that allows contributors to upload media with their posts, pending approval, or, equivalently for a feature that allows an administrator to require approval before a post is published by an author.
The problem is that writing an article without being able to include media in it, is very inconvenient for contributors, limits their authoring freedom, and puts extra work on editors and admins to include the required media. On the other hand, it’s important that articles need approval before going online.
I guess the feature is missing, or not? Can we have it in some update?

I wanted the confirmation that I am not missing something and indeed it can’t be done yet, that’s why I posted my request here.
