‘Contributors Widget’ picking up wrong name

    I have two WP accounts (one inactive, which I wish I could disable). Under my active account, I have 4 blogs. One will have many authors/contributors, and I love the Contributors widget because it allows readers to click on a name and see a list of all posts under that author. Perfect!

    Except when I click on my name (Ranylt), my posts are listed under “C Harlowe” which is the name of my inactive dead account. I have plugged “Ranylt” into every Profile window I can find, including ‘Display Name Publicly As,’ but nothing.

    Tearing my hair out….help?

    We do not have a Contributor’s Widget at wordpress.com so I don’t know what you are referring to. If you created your own using a text widget then it will not auto update.

    The unique identifier here at wordpress.com is the email address you used to create a username account register your blogs under. We cannot change a WordPress.com account username once it has been set. However, you can change what is seen on your posts and comments by changing the display name (nickname) in your profile, or you can create a new account and transfer your blog(s) to the new account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/

    You’re right. The Widget is called “Authors” on the Paperpunch theme’s Widget page, but it (strangely) shows up as “Contributors” in the right-hand column of the blog, where the other widgets fall. Hence the confusion.

    Again, I’m logged into my account under Ranylt Richildis, which was created under the ID Ranylt Richildis many months before I created the C Harlowe account (a pseudonym that didn’t exist before then). I can’t see any reason why, logged into my RR account as RR and using an RR email, I should see any other name. I’ve checked Profile and Personal Info again and again, to no avail.

    I guess I’ll have to contact the staff.
